The VoiceTRAN communicator is a multimodal translation aid that translates phrases from the source language into the target language. The VoiceTRAN communicator uses state-of-the-art speech recognition, machine translation and text to speech synthesis techniques to provide the user with all the advantages of a speech-to-speech translation device. If the background noise is too high or the user cannot speak, s/he can use pen input to insert source language phrases or correct the speech recognition results.
